Please remember to submit your assignments. For the argumentative writing piece on ‘It is important for all students to  learn a foreign language’.

When writing your piece remember the first paragraph is your introductory paragraph. Be sure to use quotes. The last line of that paragraph is where your thesis goes.

Each member of the group has to provide one body paragraph.

First body paragraph (Topic sentence and one argument in support of your position. Use facts to support)

Second body paragraph (Topic sentence and one argument in support of your position. Use facts to support)

Third body paragraph (Topic sentence and an opposing argument this means you have to select an argument the other side would say and why it is not so) E.g Opponent of foreign languages might say it is difficult. However, languages are complicated and like everything, it requires effort.  So you are basically building a counterargument. Use facts to support

Conclusion (Re-state main points) No new points allowed.

Here are some proposing arguments: improves communication, broadens perspective on different cultures, helps you to be more marketable in the work place, develops your brain.

Here are some opposing arguments: Difficulty in learning a language, illegal to learn a language, takes too long to master, potential problems with your own language.
