Mixtures
A mixture when different kinds of elements are combined physically and not chemically. Impure substances are also called mixtures. Mixtures are further divided into homogeneous or heterogeneous.
Mixtures have the following characteristics:
- They have a variable composition
- Their properties are variable since their components retain their own individual properties.
Homogeneous Mixture
A homogeneous mixture also called a solution, has uniform composition and properties.
Heterogeneous Mixture
A heterogeneous mixture the components of the mixture are not uniform, different samples from the mixture are not identical to each other.
